Tombstone 5

Hi readers!

Here is the last installment of our Tombstone tramp.

When the weather cools down and fall finally rolls across the desert sands we hope to return to Tombstone and do an "official" ghost investigation of our own!  We can't wait.  At the end I will post a few ghost tour links if anyone is interested in planning a "ghostly" adventure in Tombstone, Arizona!

The spirit (s) of the Wild West is alive and well in Tombstone.  Tourism is the main draw to this dusty town and great effort is made when re-creating the "feel" of old Tombstone.  From the towns people dressed in 1880's clothing to the performance gun fights in the streets, Tombstone will take you back in time.

Many of the original buildings still stand and the bullet holes in some places are still visible from the rougher, gun fighting days of the old west.

We love to visit Tombstone and always stop by the Crystal Palace for a shot of honey whiskey and a game of pool.

The Crystal Palace was originally the Golden Eagle Brewery Company built in 1879.  It was one of the early structures in Tombstone and one of the first saloons.  The saloon occupied a small area in the front and the brewery was in another structure to the rear.  Builder Benjamin Wehrfritz, expanded the building and added a second story to house the offices of U. S. Deputy Marshal Virgil Earp.

Two fires swept through Tombstone.  One in 1881 and one in 1882.  The second fire destroyed many buildings including the Brewery and the O. K. Corral.

The only thing left of the O. K. Corral was the sign.

However, being the town "too tough to die" Tombstone was rebuilt.  This included rebuilding the brewery building which then became the Crystal Palace Saloon.

The Palace over the years...

You can eat, drink and be western at the Crystal Palace.  They also have live entertainment.  What's not to enjoy.

Here are some photos from around Tombstone.  There is so much to see and so much history it would take a book.  In fact, there are many books on the subject.

This cowboy followed us all day!

Tombstone, the town that allows you to step back in time...even if you only have fingers for guns! lol
And don't forget to get a vintage photo taken! Great fun!
