Ruby, Arizona ghost tramp

We began our ghost tramping adventures in Ruby, Arizona.  Heading south on I-19 we saw a giant bull skull and discovered this awesome place, which was a restaurant but is now abandoned.

Ruby seemed close enough to Tucson, but in actuality turned out to be a rather rough and lengthy dirt road ride once you got off of W. Arivaca Road and through the small town of Arivaca (interesting place).

Ruby is a ghost town in Santa Cruz County, Arizona.  Originally named Montana Camp, because miners were mining at the foot of Montana Peak.  Mining started around 1877.  The Montana Mine produced gold, silver, zinc, and copper.  At its peak in the mid-1930's, Ruby had a population of about 1,200.  The mine closed in 1940 and by the end of 1941 Ruby was abandoned.

You have to pay a small fee to look around.  There is one man who lives there and keeps an eye on the place.  There is also a lake, not that we would go in it but he said people come and "camp" there?...spooky. It looked like a good back drop for a horror movie and felt pretty eerie and creepy.
